RiverHawk Baseball Adds Two Local Stand-Outs

The Umpqua Community College baseball program is excited to announce the signing of two local players from Douglas County to join the RiverHawks in the fall of 2019.

Jacob Luther is a 2nd baseman who was named Class 2A/1A Special District 4 baseball Player of the Year in 2018. Luther was also voted 1st team All-State during his junior baseball season. He also played soccer and basketball for the Umpqua Valley Christian Monarchs.

In addition to Luther, the RiverHawks signed local player, Payton Hope, a pitcher, infielder/outfielder, from Sutherlin High School. Hope earned 1st Team All-League honors in the Sky-Em League as a utility player. He was also named to All-State team as an honorable mention utility player.

Payton also played basketball for the Sutherlin Bulldogs.
