Men Come Up Short Against #1 Portland

The Umpqua Men's basketball team battled through injuries to their two top scores and their top rebounder, but it wasn't enough, as they fell to #1 Portland Community College 97-77. In-game injuries sidelined Conner Shaw, Erik Klekas and Cody Gray. They combined for just 33 minutes and 1 point.

Portland ran out to a 43-30 lead at the half and continued to pull away early on. The RiverHawks made a late run with 4:30 to go, but couldn't continue the effort. Umpqua was led in scoring by Coleman Johnson and David Vasquez, each with 19 points. Johnson pulled down 10 rebounds to post a double/double. Ethan Betts was the only other RiverHawk in double figure scoring with 12 points.

With the loss, the RiverHawks fall to 11-5 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
