RiverHawk Basketball Adds Post Player

The Umpqua Community College Men’s Basketball Team is excited to announce the addition of Chayse Mims, a 6’6” forward from Brighton High School in Cotton Woods Heights, Utah.

Mims is a 2016 graduate where he led the Bengals to the quarterfinals of the 5A Utah State Championships. Mims averaged 15 points per game to go along with 9 rebounds for his senior campaign. He has career highs of 37 points and 16 rebounds.

Head RiverHawk Men’s Basketball Coach Daniel Leeworthy had this to say about the signing of Mims,” Chayse is a tremendous player and person.  He is an All-State player in Utah and a high academic achiever.  He brings athleticism, versatility, and toughness to our front court.  We have actively recruited him for 2 years because we know what he can bring to this team and his success in high school will translate well to UCC and the RiverHawk program.”

The UCC Men’s Basketball Team is coming off of a trip to the NWAC Final 4 and a 20-11 season.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
