The Umpqua Community College Department of Athletics is continuing to serve the communities of Douglas County through their Champions Read program. Champions Read is part of the RiverHawks' Champions in the Community service platform.
On Friday, November 30th, the Men's basketball team travelled to Winchester Elementary School and read to the three 1st grade classrooms. Each student in the classroom was presented with a copy of the book to take home, along with a season pass to all home athletic events for the RiverHawks.
Winchester, along with Green Elementary School are part of the Champions Read program and will receive 5-6 visits from UCC athletes throughout the year. The RiverHawks will donate over 600 books during the school year.
