The Men's Basketball program announced today the addition of six recruits, Tanner Quinton, Isaac Lungren, Hayden Wood, Harry Love, Ben Perry, and Cody Fredickson for the 2019-20 season.
Coach Leeworthy had this to say about the recruiting class, "We are extremely excited to add these six student athletes into the program and UCC family. All six love basketball, and are fantastic in the classroom. I expect all of them to have a great career while here at UCC, and help us take the next step towards winning an NWAC championship. They will be fun to watch."
Tanner Quinton a 6'2 wing from Cardston, Alberta, is a transfer student from Snow College. Where in 2017-18 season he appeared in 18 contests, shot 50% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. "Tanner brings experience, maturity and shooting to our team. He has been in a winning program and knows what it takes to compete at a high level," said Coach Leeworthy. Tanner sat out the 2018-19 due to a shoulder injury.
Isaac Lungren a 6'4 wing from Westlake High School, Utah, averaged 16 points his senior year while shooting over 40% from the 3 point line. He was an honorable mention on the 5A all-state team. "Isaac is long, athletic wing who can really shoot the ball. I am looking forward to coaching him because he is such a competitor," said Leeworthy.
Hayden Wood a 5'11 Point Guard from Sugar-Salem High School in Rexburg, Idaho, was named 3A playoff MVP after winning the Idaho State Championship. Wood averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 43% from 3's. "He is another winner, and competitor that we are adding to the program. He is a leader that can make plays for everyone around him." said Coach Leeworthy.
Harry Love a 6'7 Forward from Melbourne, Australia, played his high school basketball at Box Hill. Love made the Under 20's Victorian State team where he averaged 5 points a game. Coach Leeworthy had this to say about Love, "Harry has a very good inside out game. He can shoot the ball, has a great body, can bang down in the paint. He has a great attitude towards the game and will help us immensely." Box Hill High School is where Philadelphia 76er star Ben Simmons attended.
Ben Perry is a 6'0 combo guard from Hastings, Australia. "Perry is someone who has developed into a very good player. He is very crafty getting into the lanes, and is a dynamic passer, and scorer. He is a winner who brings toughness and defense," said Coach Leeworthy about Perry.
Cody Fredickson is a 6'1 combo guard from Hallam, Australia. Fredickson has been a star in high school and in club basketball with the youth league team The Waverley Falcons. "Cody is someone who can thrive in the college game because of his athleticism, and shooting ability. I was able to watch him recently play and I loved the way he can score at a high level. He can reverse dunk with ease, and has a great technique on his shot."
All new additions will arrive in September to campus.
