Umpqua Invitational Leads to Great Success for the RiverHawks

The UCC Men's Basketball team hosted the Inaugural Umpqua Invitational Tournament, and the RiverHawks went 3-0.
The three day tournament hosted by the RiverHawks, included Blue Mountain CC, Big Bend CC, Simpson University JV, Green River College, and Clark College.

On Friday, the RiverHawks played Big Bend CC. At half time UCC led 38-33, then proceeded to pull away during the second half to win 88-69. Four Hawks scored into double digits, with Kolten Mortensen leading with 20 points, followed by Isaac Lungreen with 17, Akoi Yuot with 16, and Cameron Benzel with 12. Benzel also lead the team with 10 rebounds. Brock Gilbert lead with 16 assists. Overall the Hawks forced the Vikings to 15 total turnovers.

On Saturday, the RiverHawks played Simpson JV. This was a big scoring game as UCC won 101-41. Ben Perry was 6-8 from the 3 point line, and led the team with 20 points. Tanner Quinton and Hayden Wood each had 10 points a piece. Each player scored 2 or more points during the game against the Red Hawks. UCC had 45 total rebounds and held Simpson JV to 28. Brock Gilbert led the team with 11 assists. The RiverHawks forced the Red Hawks to 15 total turnovers as well.

On Sunday, the RiverHawks went up against Blue Mountain CC and won by 30 with a final score of 97-67. Five RiverHawks went into double digits, with Kolten Mortensen leading again with 19 points. Brock Gilbert had 10 assists. Cameron Benzel led the team in rebounds with 12 of his own, of the team total 47.
