Hawks Make Quick Comeback After First Loss

The UCC Men's Basketball team was 6-0 before going into the weekend tournament at Lane CC. On Friday night they had a big win against Multnomah JV, who they've seen once before, making their win streak 7-0. On Saturday their win streak was snapped, as they lost to South Puget Sound by only 2 points. However, the loss on Saturday only helped fire up the Hawks to win on Sunday against Olympic College.

On Friday, December 6th the Hawks played Multnomah JV and won 111-61. Four Hawks went into double digits: Akoi Yuot with 23 points, Isaac Lungren with 17, Tanner Quinton with 15, and Cody Fredrickson with 12. Fredrickson led the team with 9 rebounds, which contributed to the team total of 48.

On Saturday, December 7th the Hawks suffered their first loss of the season, closely losing to South Puget Sound 65-67. Akoi Yuot led the Hawks with 16 points, followed by Brock Gilbert with 11, and both Cameron Benzel and Tanner Quinton each had 10. The Hawks managed to out-rebound the Clippers 50-32, with Benzel getting 15 of his own.

The Hawks quickly overcame their loss to win their next game 94-53 against Olympic College on Sunday, December 8th. This time five Hawks all scored double digits, including 5 starters and one off the bench. Isaac Lungren led the team with 17 points, which is his 4th game scoring this career-high. Followed closely behind was Cameron Benzel with 15 points, Cody Fredrickson with 13, and both Akoi Yuot and Hayden Wood each had 11 points. Each player who entered the game scored at least 2 or more points. Benzel also had an impressive 5 blocks for the night, as the team had 12 in total. Each player who entered the game also snagged at least 1 rebound during the game to contribute to the team 43. Cody Fredrickson and Brock Gilbert each had 7 rebounds a piece.
