The Umpqua Community College Track and Field program is excited to announce the signing of Tyreece Gardner of Reedsport High School in Reedsport, Oregon. Gardner is the reigning OSAA 2A Long Jump State Champion and a 5-sport athlete at Reedsport High.
Gardner was named All-League as a defensive back and running back in football, as well as being named All-State, while setting the school record for interceptions. On the basketball court, he was also named All-League and All-State, setting the record for most 3-pt baskets in a single game. On the track, besides his state long jump title, he was District Champion in the 4 x 100m relay and the high jump and was 2nd in the triple jump. He also competed in golf and baseball for Reedsport High.
RiverHawk Head Track and Field Coach Alan King had this to say about the signing of Gardner, "We are very excited about adding an athlete like Tyreece. He is versatile, with a very high ceiling. Being able to focus on track and field should help him improve in short order."
