Title: Assistant Track & Field Coach - Jumps

Robert Wagoner is in his second season as jumps/multis coach at UCC.

In four seasons as a high school coach, Wagoner produced two state champion triple jumpers: Karsten Wethington (2014 California Indoor) and Brady Lenz (2018 Colorado CHSAA Outdoor). In eight seasons as a club and volunteer coach he helped develop numerous high school state champions, including Valerie Lindenmuth (2008 Texas TAPPS 5A High Jump) Jennifer Johnson (2010 Texas TAPPS 4A Long Jump and Triple Jump) Tessa Mpagi (2016 Texas UIL 6A Long Jump) and Jimmy Kelly (2022 Nevada NIAA 3A High Jump and Long Jump), as well as 2015 NCAA D1 All-American Cybil Obiozor (Triple Jump).

Coach Wagoner is IAAF Certified Level 5 and USATF Certified Level 3 for coaching jumps and is also certified at the advanced level by USTFCCCA. He is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with several outstanding coaches, including college coaches Dr. Joe Vigil and Jim Bevan, high school Coaches Lee Webb and Peter De La Cerda, and club coaches Selwyn Dews and Walter Walls. Coach Wagoner was a four-time NAIA national qualifier in the Long and Triple Jump and a two-time All-American (1979 and 1980) in the Triple Jump while competing for Adams State College. A retired attorney, he and his wife Margie have two grown children.
