Jim Feeney enters his fourth season as a volunteer coach.
 
"I was a 14 ft pole vaulter at Katella High School in Anaheim, CA., graduated same year as Prefontaine, 1969.

Learned to throw javelin (with one day of coaching from Rick Sloan, an Olympic bronze medalist in the decathalon) while attending Fullerton Junior College in 1971. PR that year was 212' and I was the CA state champion with a throw of 209'0".

Moved on to Cal State Fullerton on a partial scholarship in 1972. Threw the javelin 243'4" setting the NCAA division II record at the time winning the national championship in Ohio.

Moved on to Southern California College (small Christian school, now Vanguard University) in 1974 on a full scholarship. Threw the javelin 236'10" at the NAIA national meet in Arkansas, winning the javelin championship.

Volunteer javelin coach at Douglas High School since 2018. Volunteer javelin coach at UCC since 2020."
