Before arriving at Culver-Stockton College, King developed Rocky Mountain College’s cross country and track programs in 2007. During his tenure at RMC, the men’s team qualified for the 2014 NAIA National Championships in cross country, 16 All-Conference cross country athletes, 18 individual NAIA cross country national qualifiers, 24 individual NAIA track and field national qualifiers, 5 NAIA national relay team qualifiers, 13 top ten individuals, and 7 NAIA track All-Americans.

Umpqua Director of Athletics, Craig Jackson, had this to say about the hiring of Coach King,” We are very excited to be able to welcome someone with Coach King’s background, history of success, and understanding of the vison for Umpqua Athletics. He comes with exactly the experience and mentality that we were looking for as we develop these new and growing programs. People are going to be excited to find out what of person and coach he is, as well as what he and his family bring to UCC and to Douglas County.”
