RiverHawks Clinch Southern Region Title

The Umpqua RiverHawk women's basketball team used stifling defense in the second quarter to break open the game and cruise to a 78-41 victory over the Clark College Penguins. Umpqua out-scored the Penguins 32-8 over the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach.

Dajanay Powell led the RiverHawks in scoring with 25 points on 11 of 14 shooting from the floor. Bria Thames chipped in 17 points and Jordan Stotler was the only other RiverHawk in double figures with 15 points. Stotler led the team with a game-high 21 rebounds, as the RiverHawks dominated the Penguins on the glass, out-rebounding them by a 56-21 margin.

The RiverHawks played in front of their largest home crowd of the year with over 400 fans in attendance for Pack the Gym Night. With the win, Umpqua clinched the Southern Region Championship for the 3rd time in 4 years.
