Women Advance to the Final Four!

In the first quarter of the NWAC Tournament Elite 8 game, the number one ranked Umpqua Community College RiverHawks jumped out to a 23-8 lead and never looked back , winning  85-58 over the Peninsula College Pirates.

With their transition game going and a concerted effort to go inside to post Dajanay Powell, UCC led at the half 49-27 with much of that coming on a 21-2 run.

Powell had 15 points and 10 rebounds as UCC shot 48% from the floor in the first-half.

The second half saw much of the same as the Pirates had no match defensively for Powell.  In fact, Powell, Jordan Stotler and Bria Thames each finished with double doubles.  The three combined for 72 points and 43 rebounds.

Stotler, the 6'4" freshman forward also added a game highs of 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 blocks.

The Pirates were led by Taisha Thomas with 17 points and Jenise McKnight 14 points.

UCC punches their ticket to next week's Final Four at Everett Community College and will play Walla Walla Community College at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 18th.
