RiverHawk Women Lose Final 4 Match-Up

A tough shooting night and a below average rebounding night, ended the Umpqua Community College women's basketball team's season and dream of another NWAC Championship, as they lost to the Spokane Sasquatch 63-58.  Foul trouble kept the RiverHawks from building their normal double-digit, first half lead and they went into the locker room leading just 33-30 at the half.

The scoring and rebounding woes continued in the second half and in particular in the third quarter, when the RiverHawks were out-scored 19-11, for their second lowest point total in a quarter, on the season. Trailing 49-44 at the end of the third quarter, the RiverHawks were able to close the gap to one point with 2:20 left to go in the game. Umpqua was unable to take control in the last two minutes, despite opportunities to do so, and came up short.

The RiverHawks were led by Jordan Stotler with a triple-double of 21 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocked shots. Dajanay Powell was the only other RiverHawk in double figure scoring with 14 points.

The RiverHawks ended their season as the Southern Region Champions, with an overall record of 29-3.
