Women's Basketball Signs All-State Selection

Umpqua RiverHawk Women's Basketball is excited to announce the signing of 5'7" point guard Cielo Gonzalez from Springfield High School in Springfield, Oregon. Gonzalez is a 3-time OSAA All-State selection, being named to the 1st Team in both 2017 and 2018.

In 2017, Gonzalez was named the Midwestern League MVP, and led the state of Oregon in scoring at the 5A level, averaging 23.5 points per contest. She also holds the single game scoring record for Springfield High School, notching 43 points versus Ashland High School in 2017.

Gonzalez has made 3 separate appearances in the OSAA State Tournament, finishing as runners-up to State Champion Silverton High School in 2016.

RiverHawk Head Coach Dave Stricklin had this to say about the signing of Gonzalez, "We are very excited to add Cielo to our program. She provides us some versatility at the point guard position that we have not had at our disposal in a few years. She can score in bunches, as well as facilitate positive action for her teammates, can lead, and understands how to win. She fits very nicely into the mold of the type of players we bring into our program."
