Umpqua Women’s Basketball Tops off Historic Season with #5 National G.P.A. Ranking

The Umpqua Community College Women's Basketball Team had a historic season on the court, breaking records and compiling a 31-2 record, falling in the NWAC Championship game. Off of the court, the final accolade for the 2017-18 Women's Basketball Team comes in the form of a Top 25 finish in the national grade point average standings.

The Umpqua RiverHawks finished with a 3.374 g.p.a, which was good enough for the #5 ranking in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Team Honor Roll. This final ranking was the highest in program history, eclipsing the #6 ranking of the 2016-17 team.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2017-18 season is the 23nd in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew.  "The 119 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
