The Umpqua Community College RiverHawk Women's Basketball team used suffocating defense in the 3rd period to overcome and outlast Lane Community College by a score of 91-87. Trailing by 14 points, 46-32, at the half, the RiverHawks out-scored the Titans 30-10 in the 3rd period to 62-56 lead.
Umpqua stretched the lead to as high as 13 points with 9:00 minutes remaining in the game and held on for the final four point margin, giving #1 Lane just their second loss of the season.
Cielo Gonzalez led the RiverHawks with a season high of 30 points, followed by Taylor Stricklin with 26 points and Darian Mitchell with 17 points and rebounds.
With the win, the RiverHawks move into a tie with Lane for 1st place in the Southern Region.
