UCC Men’s Wrestling Signs State 6A Runner-Up

The Umpqua RiverHawk Men’s Wrestling Program is excited to announce the signing of two-time OSAA State Championship placer Dallas O’Bryan of Newburg High School, in Newburg, Oregon. O’Bryan was the 2017 OSAA State- Runner-Up in the 285lb class.

UCC Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Kyle Temple had this to say about the signing of O’Bryan,” Dallas comes from one of the strongest wrestling programs in Oregon history at Newberg High School. He was this past season's OSAA 6A State Runner-Up at heavyweight and will make an immediate impact for the RiverHawks. I’ve had the opportunity to see Dallas in action since his freshman year of high school and the only thing bigger than Dallas is his personality and passion for wrestling. He is a great natural leader, hard worker, and he will leave a lasting impression on anyone that comes in contact with him. Coach Russo has done a great job of leading Dallas to this point in his career and I am ecstatic to take over the reins and help Dallas pursue both his educational and athletic career.”

The Umpqua Wrestling team has been brought back to the Roseburg, Oregon campus, and will begin competition in the fall of 2017.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
