McDowell is a 2-time OSAA State Championship placer (4^th, 5^th) as well as a 2-time placer in Freestyle (3^rd, 4^th) and Greco (2^nd, 3^rd). His Roseburg High School wrestling team has won 9 of the last 11 OSAA 6A State Championships.
