Roseburg Wrestler to Join RiverHawks

Umpqua Community College Men's Wrestling Coach Kyle Temple has announced the signing of Roseburg High School senior Hunter Hillard to participate on the Men's Wrestling Program for the 2019-2020 Season.

Hillard is projected to compete for the RiverHawks at 184/197 pounds. Hunter was a round of 12 qualifier at the 2019 OSAA 6A State Championships.

"Hunter is a great example of a student athlete that has a drive and determination to be successful in life. He plans to pursue a degree in Sports Physical Therapy and has decided that he wants to continue his athletic career during this time. We are happy that he chose to stay home and work towards his degree while competing for the RiverHawks before moving on to a university and completing his bachelor's degree," said coach Temple. "Hunter is still relatively new to wrestling, having started as a freshman, which translates to there being a lot of room for growth still in his wrestling future. One of a community college's functions is to serve the educational needs of the local community and Hunter electing to start of his education and continue his athletic career here exemplifies this for both UCC and Roseburg."
