RiverHawk Places 4th at Spokane Open

The Men's Wrestling team had some tough matches at the Spokane Open, but one Hawk still found success in placing 4th.

At the 285 weight class there were 20 athletes in the bracket, including 3 RiverHawks, Jayden De Fond, Adam Lamb, and Hayden Juliano. De Fond had a bye the first round, and he moved onto the second round to face Tommy Mommer (Clackamas CC) but lost by fall at 4:22. He then moved onto the consolation side of the bracket, and faced Juan Vallejo (Warner Pacific) and won by fall at 0:33. De Fond moved on to win his next two rounds against Noah Winder (Unattached) and UCC teammate Lamb, and finally went on to go up against Tarik Sutkovic (Clackamas CC) for the 3rd place match, but he lost by no contest and took 4th overall. Lamb won his first round by fall at 2:54 and his second round by 7-2 decision, but he lost by fall at 2:53 in his third round. Lamb won his fourth round by 3-2 decision, but fell to teammate De Fond. Juliano had a bye in his first round, lost his second round by fall at 6:08, and then had another bye in his third round. In his fourth round he lost by fall at 0:44. 

At the 125 weight class, Tanner Ulrey competed. He had a bye in the first round, won the second round by 9-7 decision, and lost his third round due to injury.

Kobe Olson wrestled the 141 weight class, started his first round with a bye, won his second round by going 11-0. Olson had a fourth round on the conosolation bracket, but lost by TF 20-5.

Garrett Russell wrestled at 157 and won his first round by 4-2 decision. He continued into his second round but came up short by losing with a fall at 6:25. His third round on the consolation bracket was a win by fall also at 6:25. Russell went on to the fourth round, but came to a loss by fall at 4:25.

Caleb Werner at the 165 weight class had a bye in his first round, then proceeded to win the second round quickly by fall at 0:28. Werner lost in the third round by fall at 0:56, then continued on to the consolation side and won his fourth round by fall at 2:25. In his fifth round, Werner lost by fall at 2:04.

At the 184 weight class, both Jullian Stone and William Kidwell competed. Stone had a bye in his first round, and Kidwell lost by fall at 0:47. In their second round, Stone lost by fall at 1:54 and Kidwell had a bye. The third round for the two Hawks completed their day as they both came to a loss: Kidwell by fall at 1:00, and Stone by 15-11 decision.

3 Hawks wrestled in the 197 weight class: Hunter Hillard, Macoy Christman, and Louie Sanchez-Rivera. In their first rounds, Hillard lost by fall at 2:04, Christman had a bye, and Sanchez-Rivera won by fall at 2:12. In the second round, Hillard had a bye, Christman lost bye 13-9 decision, and Sanchez-Rivera won by fall at 2:53. The third round for the 3 Hawks Hillard lost by fall at 6:37 and was eliminated, Christman won by fall at 2:43, and Sanchez-Rivera lost by TF 16-0. The fourth round Christman won by 7-4 decision and Sanchez-Rivera lost to fromer RiverHawk Josh Hammers (SOU). Christman went on to compete in a fifth round but lost by fall at 0:46.

The Hawks are slated to dual on Saturday, December 7th at home against Southwestern Oregon Community College.
