Volleyball Wins 3rd Straight

The Umpqua Community College womens volleyball team swept New Hope Christian College on Monday night in a nonconference match. Set scores were 25-20, 25-23, 25-20. Kaitlen Haas had 11 kills while Glide graduate Johanna Pope had eight kills and two solo blocks for the Riverhawks (15-9, 1-2). Roseburg graduates Morgan Johnson added seven kills while Katelyn Crawford had 13 assists and one service ace. Shayla Limatoc who is one of only three sophomores on the Riverhawks had 21 digs and one service ace. The Riverhawks are on a three game winning streak and picking up momentum according to head coach Lacy Pinard. UCC swept Clark at home on September 27 for their first conference win and traveled to Weed, California on September 29 as they defeated the College of the Siskiyous in straight sets. UCC resumes Northwest Athletic Conference Southern region play Friday when they host Mt. Hood at 6:30 pm. Then the Riverhawks hit the road Saturday as they play at Chemeketa at 2 p.m.
