MEN’S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCE 2023 RECRUITING CLASS

Head Men's Basketball Coach Daniel Leeworthy has announced the 2023 recruiting class.  The class hails from across the country with 3 from Nevada (Evan Tatum, Isiaac Boykin, Kam Ricks), 2 from Idaho (Will Casebolt, Creighton Hansen), 1 from Utah (Will Harris), and 3 homegrown Oregon players (Hunter Fullerton, Marcus McKinney, Kahiki Nelson).  Additionally, 1 International player was added, Josh Lloyd, from Australia).

They join returners Coby Jimenez (Thornton, Colorado), Cash Corder (Seaside, Oregon), Dawson Dumas (Elko, Nevada), and Leo Sewell (Portland, Oregon). Although the RiverHawks only return 5.8 points per game from last season's team Will Harris (Wasatch, Utah) returns to UCC after a 2-year Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico.  Harris played during the 2021-22 covid shortened season where the team went 16-1 and won the Southern Region.  Harris averaged 12.5 points per game in 25 minutes of action, and shot 38% from 3's.  Cash Corder and Coby Jimenez red-shirted and medical red-shirted last season respectively. 

The 3 Oregonians include local products Hunter Fullerton who starred at Roseburg High school and Kahiki Nelson from Douglas High School who played for former UCC assistant Bid Van Loon.  The 3 new Nevadan's are all from the same high school in Las Vegas, Desert Pines High school Coached by Daimar Harris.

Coach Leeworthy had this to say about the class, "This recruiting class has the chance to do special things.  We really wanted to increase our competitive toughness, defense, and leadership.  We added a couple of transfers, talented freshman, and obviously Will who was awesome for us a couple of years ago.  I am also pleased that so many of these guys coming in excel in the classroom.  Isiaac was example had a 4.2 GPA in High School.  I couldn't be more optimistic at what this group could do in the future."

Leeworthy has also hired a new assistant coach in local Chad Hockema, he also hinted that they may not be done with this recruiting class.

The RiverHawks tip-off their season on Friday November 17th at 4pm at home against Grays Harbor College.
