RiverHawk Track and Field Hires Henry to Coach Throwing Events

Roseburg native and Oregon State University Graduate (2017), Rachel Henry, has been hired by Umpqua Community College Head Track and Field Coach Alan King, to work with the RiverHawk shot putters, discus and hammer throwers. Henry (formerly Picknell) competed in Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field while wearing the Oregon State uniform, throwing the shot, hammer and discus.

Henry set the Beaver school record in the hammer throw, with a career best of 173' 4 ½" and has the 2nd best discus throw in Oregon State history with a mark of 164'9". She also holds the 2nd best weight throw in Oregon State Indoor history with a mark of 51'5 ¾".

Henry has a Bachelor's degree in Exercise/Sport Science and is married to former Oregon State wrestler and football player, David Henry.

Coach King had this to say about the hiring of Henry, "We are excited to add Rachel to our staff at UCC. She was a high level athlete with lots of local contacts that will be helpful with our recruiting. She is also experienced in the strength and conditioning world, which will help our throwers immensely."
