Umpqua Women Start Strong in Road Victory

The RiverHawk women of Umpqua Community College started out on fire on offense and brought stifling defense in a 96-65 road victory over Clackamas Community College. The RiverHawks ended the first quarter with a 34-7 lead and kept the pressure on, to lead 61-26 at the end of the half. The 61 points in a half is the most points scored in a half this season by the RiverHawks was more than 12 NWAC teams scored in the entire game on Saturday afternoon.

 

Bria Thames led Umpqua with 26 points and nine rebounds, followed by Dajanay Powell with 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Jordan Stotler with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Tasia Bilbrew chipped in with 15 points and a game-high 14 assists.

 

With the win, the RiverHawks move to 15-0 in conference play and 26-2 on the season. They close out regular season play when they host Chemeketa Community College this Wednesday, March 1st, at 5:30 p.m.
