RiverHawk Women Cruise to Road Win

Bria Thames shot a blistering 10 of 13 from the floor and 10 of 11 from the free-throw line to lead the Umpqua RiverHawks to a 103-67 road win over the Chemekta Storm. Umpqua come out strong in the first period, leading by 13 at 26-13, and continued their strong play in the second quarter, leading 53-33 at the half.

The third and fourth quarters were more of the same as UCC continued to dominate inside play. In addition to Thames, Jordan Stotler had 23 points and Dajanay Powell had 21. The RiverHawks out-rebounded the Storm by an astounding 53-16 margin, with Thames leading the way with 15 boards. Tasia Bilbrew was the other RiverHawk in double figure scoring with 14 points, including two 3-pt. baskets.

With the win, the RiverHawks remain perfect in Southern Region play with a 6-0 record, and sit atop the Southern Region with a 17-2 overall record. UCC is back in action Feb. 1st, as they travel to Southwestern Oregon for a 5:30 tip-off.
