Along with receiving UCC's RiverHawk Athlete of the Week, Cielo Gonzalez was named to the NWAC Athlete of the Week for women's basketball.
Gonzalez was instrumental in Umpqua's three wins at the Tacoma Crossover to improve to 10-0 on the season. The Riverhawks outscored their opponents by a combined 79 points highlighted by Gonzalez's 21.3 points per game. She also tuned in 3.3 assists per game to go with 5.0 rebounds per game and was 100% from the charity stripe on 11 attempts.
Gonzalez is currently 5th in league scoring (18.4 ppg), 4th in free throw percentage (84.1), 11th in 3PT percentage (43.1) and 14th in assists (34).
"Cielo is a returning sophomore who can play both guard spots and who can score in a variety of ways," said UCC head coach Dave Stricklin. "The more we needed her this past weekend the better she played."
