The Umpqua Community College Cross Country and Obstacle Course Racing teams kicked off their 2018 season by hosting a 4k time trail on Sept. 25^th. Seventeen RiverHawks entered the challenging race, with Nakai Sinohui (Fr. South Umpqua HS) placing 3^rd overall, with a time of 15:20.75. The next highest placer from Umpqua was Riley Westbrooks (Fr. Sutherlin HS) who finished 8^th overall, the highest placer for the RiverHawk Obstacle Course Racing team. One the women's side, Savannah Slay (Fr. South Umpqua HS) was 4^th overall with a time of 19:22.21, followed by Jaysie Fox (Fr. Roseburg HS), who finshed 6^th place, with a time of 20:51.68.

A total of 34 runners competed in the time trial. First year RiverHawk Coach, Alan King had this to say about the event," For our first opportunity to race, I was pleased with the effort. I am excited about where some of our athletes will end up at the completion of the season. We have a lot of work to do, but it is a fun group of athletes to coach."

The RiverHawks open their regular season on September 7^th, when the travel to compete at Western Oregon State College.
