Men's Basketball Sends Three to Universities

UCC Men's Basketball Sophomore's Eric Klekas, Connor Shaw, and Alec Hillman signed their Letters of Intent to continue playing at four year Universities.

Eric Klekas will head to NAIA Division 1 powerhouse Arizona Christian University.  Arizona Christian had a 25-9 record this season which ended to Georgetown College in the playoffs.  Klekas' much decorated career ended with an all NWAC 1st team selection, and finished 5th on the all-time leading scoring list with 1,065 points.

Connor Shaw signed with NCAA Division 2 Western Colorado University in the very tough Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  Shaw finished his career 16th on the all scoring list with 852.  He averaged 16 points, and 5 assists for the season.

Alec Hillman is headed to Olds College in Alberta, Canada. Hillman appeared in 22 games this season while shooting a scorching 60% from the field, and 50% from the 3 point line.  "Hillman was instrumental in the success of the RiverHawks the last 2 seasons both on and off the court.  His leadership, hard word will be sorely missed" said Coach Leeworthy.

All three sophomores were in the program for 2 years and won a combined 38 wins.  Head Coach Daniel Leeworthy had this to say about the signings, "I am very proud of these three student athletes.  They have exemplified what it means to be a "student athlete".  They were successful on the basketball court, in the community, and in the classroom.  All of them are very close to a 4.0 g.p.a, and will graduate in June.  They will be successful in life."
