Hawks Compete in Quad Meet at Lane

The RiverHawk Track and Field teams competed at the Titan Invite over the week hosted by Lane CC with competitors from Lane, University of Oregon, and UO Running Club. Weather conditions were unfavorable as the pole vault was delayed, with many opting out of the event, and throwing implements were difficult to grip. Some Hawks still had success on the day, however.

Isaac Heard threw a season best in the javelin of 53.70m/176-2ft to win the event. Xavier Hills had a break out performance in the high jump with a clearance of 1.95m/6-4.75ft to win the event and now ranking first in the NWAC. Okenoko Pascall pulled off two 2nd place finishes, despite the rain in his throwing events, even with 13.01m/42-8.25ft in shot put and 43.13m/141-6ft in discus. Ethan Bastian ran a personal best in steeplechase with a time of 10:54.85. Daniel Gee had solid performances all around with a 2nd place finish tying his personal best in pole vault with a clearance of 4.63m/15-2.25ft. Dan also had a pair of 3rd place finishes in the 110m hurdles (18.13) and the high jump (1.80m/5-10.75ft). Will Hills had a solid day in the long jump, finishing 3rd with a jump of 6.61m/21-8.25ft. On the track, Oluwatomiwa Olubisi had two strong performances in the 100m and 200m, going 11.24 and 23.30 to finish 3rd in both. The 4x400m relay was composed of the distance crew as the got some speed work in after their regular races, with Elijah Mojica, Irafasha Rodrigue, Jacob Loudenslager, and Kristofer Aguirre going 3:49.11 for 3rd. Connor Deveny, Kristofer Aguirre, and Gabriel Simmons all raced the 5k, finishing 4th (17:12.35), 6th (17:49.83), and 8th (19:59.85), respectively. James Kelly hit the track and the field on the day, with a pair of 5th place finishes going 11.44 in the 100m and 19-6.75ft in long jump. Taking the weekend away from javelin to throw the shot put, Leikel Cabrera-Gay finished 6th with a throw of 11.53m/37-10ft. In the hammer throw, Joshua Godfrey finished 7th with a mark of 29.82m/97-10ft. Notably, Irafasha Rodrigue ran a new personal best in the 1500m, and Isaiah Bloom ran a new personal best in the 400m.

On the women's side, Rachel Noyce won the high jump with an NWAC leading jump of 1.53m/5-0.25ft, then ran the 200m in a time of 28.31. They merged the men's and women's 5k together and Keelin Johnson finished 1st on the women's side with a time of 23:17.78. Kylie Anderson had two 2nd place finishes in her two events, throwing the shot put 11.32m/37-1.75ft and the hammer 37.61m/123-5ft. Similarly, Kylie Rubrecht also had a 2nd place finish with a throw of 35.00m/114-10ft in javelin. In triple jump, Lexi McWilliam got her first collegiate mark in the event going 8.95m/29-4.5ft (just short of her personal best from high school) to finish 2nd. Back on the track, Kasemsri Miele raced both the 100m and 200m finishing 4th and 5th in each, with times of 13.23 and 27.54. Three women were in the 800m for the Hawks with Mia McCormack leading the pack to a 3rd place finish and new personal best of 2:39.72, followed by Gabrielle Hrdlicka in her debut with a time of 2:48.21 for 6th, and Emma-Kate Crouse in 2:49.36 for 7th. There were three 4th places finishes on the day as Taylor Heie cleared 2.93m/9-7.25ft in pole vault, Amy Barnwell threw 36.98m/121-4ft in hammer, and Talia Hosford threw 9.71m/31-10.25ft in shot put. Talia also finished 6th in discus with 24.87m/81-7ft and 7th in hammer with 27.39m/89-10ft. Also in the discus, Male'ata Snuka Polamalu took 5th with a mark of 28.86m/94-8ft.

The team will compete next at the Raider Invite hosted by Southern Oregon University on Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th. Live results will be at live.tf.
