RiverHawks Return With Three Victories!

The Umpqua RiverHawks made a triumphant return to play, after a 35-year hiatus, by taking 3 of 4 games from Olympic College.

In the first game back, since 1985, the RiverHawks pitching duo of Chris Thomson and Payton Hope held Olympic to just two hits in the 6-2 victory. Jacob Luther drove in 3 runs and Charlie Updegrave drove in 2.

Game #2 ended 7-4 with Michael Freund leading the charge by going 3-5 at the plate and driving in a run. Owen Viano drove in 3 runs and Preston Johnson and Mason Crowsen held Olympic to just 3 hits.

Game #3 was close throughout as the RiverHawks withstood a 4-run 5th inning by Olympic and Kyle Van Boeyen came in to pitch 3 innings of scoreless baseball. Jonathan Gassman and Joshua Robbins had 2 hits each.  

Game #4 was 5-4 in the 6th inning, until Olympic scored 3 runs in the 7th to settle in to the final score of 8-4. Conner Schneider took the loss for the RiverHawks.

The game was played in front of over 1400 fans. The RiverHawks head to Yakima this Saturday, Feb. 29th.
