Baseball Splits Two with Lane

Umpqua Community College baseball returned home from Eugene, riding a two-game sweep over the visiting Titans, but dropped two home contests to even the series at 2 games each.

Game #1 in Eugene saw RiverHawk pitchers Jace Stoffal and Drake Aboud combine for 9 innings of 1 run baseball, while fanning 5 Titans. On the offensive side of the game, Doran Gillespie homered and drove in two runs, while Joshua Robbins also drove in two runs, leading to the 4-1 victory.

Game #2 was more of the same, as RiverHawk pitchers Carson Angeroth and Preston Johnson went 9 innings and surrendered one run, while striking out eight. Tyson Wallace, Jack Van Remortal and Finn Snyder all drove in runs for UCC, as the RiverHawks triumphed by the same score of 4-1.

Games #3 and #4 were not as kind to the RiverHawks, as the drooped both of them by the scores of 3-2 and 2-0. Pitching was strong again, but the bats never got going, as the RiverHawks could not capitalize on late inning rallies.

The RiverHawk host and travel to LBCC this week for a two game series at each site.
