Two Ex-UCC Pitchers Selected in the 2023 MLB Draft

 

The Umpqua Community College baseball program is excited to announce the selection of two former RiverHawks in the 2023 MLB draft this month.

After a two-season tenure with the University of Oregon Ducks, right-handed pitcher Jace Stoffal of Roseburg was drafted in round eight to play for the Minnesota Twins. Stoffal had an earned run average of 3.75 and a 7-5 record while making eighteen starts with one complete game during his time at Oregon. Finishing wqith a 2.17 earned run average as a RiverHawk, Stoffal was named first-team South Division All-Northwest Athletic Conference in 2021.

Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Hunter Kublick was selected in round eighteen as a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. Kublick completed his sophomore season at UCC this May with a 2.54 earned run average, appearing in seventeen games and making thirteen starts.

Stoffal and Kublick are the first players to be drafted since the 2018 reinstatement of the UCC Baseball program.
