Men's Basketball Secures Hard-Earned Win to Close Out Regular Season

The UCC Men's Basketball team recently ranked 6th in the last Coach's Poll, defeated over #1 ranked Clackamas Community College, 80-79.

The game remained close, with 11 lead changes and 10 ties during. In the last 15 seconds the Hawks were down by 1, but secured the final 2 points just before the buzzer went off. Cameron Benzel led the team with 23 points, followed by Isaac Lungren with 16, Kolten Mortensen with 12, and Brock Gilbert with 10. Benzel and Gilbert both had double-doubles, with Benzel leading with 10 rebounds and Gilbert leading with 10 assists.

The Hawks finish the regular season with a 25-4 overall record, and 13-3 in the conference. The 5 Sophomores (#1 Brock Gilbert, #2 Tanner Quinton, #4 Spencer Campbell, #15 Cameron Benzel, and #32 Kolten Mortensen; as well as #25 Max Hubbard who will be graduating this Spring) were recognized tonight for their contribution to the team, school, and community as they played their last home game at UCC. The Hawks will now enter the playoffs. The 2020 NWAC Basketball Selection Show will take place on Sunday, March 1. Broadcast will be available on the NWACSportsNetwork.com. The MBB show begins at 6pm, and it will be determined who they play and where.
