RiverHawks Sign Two

Umpqua Community College Women's Wrestling is excited to announce the signing of Leslie Sanchez of Simi Valley, California and Destinee Harris of Edmonds, Washington.

 

Sanchez attended Royal High School where she wrestled for 4 seasons. She also grew up participating in martial arts. She will be joining the RiverHawks from Simpson University. Head Coach Craig Jackson had this to say about the signing of Sanchez, "Leslie is a skilled, exciting athlete, with a good wrestling future. We are looking forward to her growing in our program."

 

Harris wrestled at Edmonds Woodway High School where she was a regional and sub-regional placer and State Championship qualifier in 2019 and 2020. She will be transferring from Simpson University where she was ranked #19 in the NAIA National poll. Jackson on Harris, "Destinee is strong, athletic and explosive. We are excited to add her experience to our wrestling room."

 

Sanchez and Harris will be joining Attalia Cano of Indio, California, Alyvia Askren of Valdez, Alaska and Vanesa Chand of Yuba City High School in the 2022 signing class.

Umpqua Women's Wrestling ended the 2021-22 season as the JCNC National Championship Runner-Up and the JCNC National Dual Championship Runner-Up.

During the 2019-20 they finished the season as the top ranked junior college program in the county. They finished as the Runner-Up in the NCWA National Championship and 8th in the WCWA National Championship.

They have crowned 6 National Champions, 29 All-Americans and 7 Academic All-Americans in the last 3 seasons.
