Hawks Go Big at OSU High Performance

Hawks Go Big at OSU High Performance

The RiverHawk Track and Field team took a small qualifying group to the OSU High Performance Meet over the weekend at Oregon State. It was another weekend that saw a combination of clouds, wind, and rain, not favorable for the sport.

Despite the tough weather conditions, our Hawks still had solid performances on the day. Travis Tyler ran the 100m in 10.90, which bumped him into 3rd in the NWAC rankings and he placed 6th in the meet of 54. Travis then turned around to run the 200m in a time of 21.76, fast enough to move him into 1st in the NWAC, and placed 9th of 66 competitors. Both marks for Travis were over the NWAC auto-qualifying standard. He now has the #2 times in UCC history in both events. Oluwatomiwa Olubisi ran a lifetime best in the 200m with 22.68, which pushed him into 9th overall in the NWAC. Isaac Heard took care of business in the javelin as he finished 4th of 21 with a mark of 54.33m/178-3ft. Kylie Rubrecht had two throws over her lifetime best going 35.74m then 35.75m/117-3ft in a very competitive women's javelin field.

The season is dwindling down as the Hawks will compete only a few more times this season. Monday and Tuesday, April 29th and 30th will be the NWAC Multi-Events Championships where James Kelly, Daniel Gee, and Rachel Noyce will compete. The rest of the team will be back on the road on Saturday, May 4th at the Linfield Open, the last regular season competition for the Hawks.
