Hawks Battle at Willamette Invitational

The UCC Cross Country teams competed at the 47th Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational at Willamette University in Salem, OR. The men's team raced their first 8k of the season, but fielded just 3 runners, while the women's team ran a 5k and fielded just 4 runners (neither had complete teams to score points). There were 26 other teams competing against the Hawks, with 208 men and 159 women.

The men's team was led by freshman, Paul Cervantes, who had a great 8k debut with a time of 29:21. Behind him was sophomore, Attreyu Pinard (31:17) had a tough race on the day, but still pushed through to end with a strong finish. Freshman, Aiden Norris, rounded out the Hawk squad in his debut cross country race with a time of 36:41.

The womne's team was again led by freshman, Bailey Wallack, and sophomore, Kristen Thomas, with only 11 seconds seperating the two. Wallack finished with a time of 21:26 and Thomas with a time of 21:37. Freshmen, Emma-Kate Crouse and Dawn Cobb followed behind finishing with times 27:51 and 27:53 to close out the women's squad. Most of the Hawks were recovery from minor injuries and sickness during the race.

The UCC Cross Country teams will be back at it again at the Lewis & Clark XC Invite on Saturday, October 15th in Estacada, OR at Milo McIver State Park.
