An incredible 13 former Men's Basketball student-athletes will play at 4-year Universities this season representing NCAA Division 1 & 2, NAIA, and Canadian Universities. "I am so happy to see the success of our RiverHawk family. I love coaching them while they were here, and I especially love continuing those relationships after they leave" commented Coach Daniel Leeworthy. A number of them are expected to start for their prospective teams, and others want to follow-up with their all-conference performances with another one, like Kolten Mortensen who has been a back-to-back recipient for his D2 School South Dakota Mines.
Outside of these athletes, there are 2 former players serving as Student assistant Coaches for this season. Brig Schofield is a student analyst for the BYU Men's Basketball team, while Drew Rippingham is a student assistant at Western Oregon University where he has just finished his playing career.
UCC has become a special place for many as it changes lives through academics, athletics, and life skills development. "I love that our former players still feel connected to this great College. We have 3 players that are expecting to be become Fathers, or just became a Father for the first time recently, and that's special to hear that kind of news. I love all my guys!" emphasized Coach Leeworthy.
The UCC Men's Basketball open the season at their 3rd annual Umpqua Invitational Basketball Tournament on Friday November 18th at 4pm vs. Pierce College. All are invited to cheer on the RiverHawks.
