OCR Starts Season Off Strong

On Saturday, August 6th, the RiverHawks Obstacle Course Racing team started off the fall season in Camas, Washington at the Paper Maker 4-Miler. The race started at an early 9am so the racers could beat the heat, and luckily most of the course was under shade from trees in Lacamas Park. The course consisted of 4 miles of trail running, 11 obstacles (including one mystery, skills obstacle), and a swim across the lake just before the finish line.

Dawn Cobb and Coach Richardson both competed in the event, Dawn in the open wave and Coach Richardson in the competitive wave. Dawn managed to pass several racers in her wave, and finished close to her time goal. This was also Dawn's first obstacle race, and she gave a valiant effort throughout the 4 mile course. Coach Richardson managed a 3rd place finish amongst the competitive women, and in a solid position overall.

This race was a great way to start off the fall OCR season for the Hawks, and inspired some obstacles to add to the upcoming home race on September 3rd. Before the home race, however, Coach Richardson and athlete, Noah Retherford, will be off to Seattle next weekend to compete in both the Spartan Beast and Spartan Super, August 13th-14th.

Go Hawks!
