RiverHawks Advance to the Final 4

The Umpqua RiverHawk Women's Basketball team extended their season with Sweet 16 and Elite 8 victories in the NWAC Basketball Tournament.

The RiverHawks opened the tournament with a 68-62 victory over North Idaho College. Umpqua led 36-26 at the half, but were out-scored by 8 during the 3rd quarter to bring the game back into reach for the Cardinals.

Darian Mitchell led the team in scoring with 26 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Taylor Stricklin with 18 points.

IN game #2 of the NWAC Championship, the RiverHawks faced the Chokers of Gray's Harbor College and came away with an 86-68 win.

A strong final quarter stretched what had been a close contest into an eighteen pint victory.

The RiverHawks were led by Taylor Stricklin with 29 points, Darian Mitchell with 26 points and 15 rebounds and Cielo Gonzalez with 20 points, 18 of which came in the second half.

The RiverHawks advance to the Final 4 for the 6th consecutive year and will face Big Bend College.
