Two-Time State Champion Joins RiverHawk Wrestling

Umpqua Community College Men's Wrestling Coach Kyle Temple has announced the addition of 197/285 pound wrestler Louie Sanchez of Cascade High School in Turner, Oregon. Sanchez was a 2018 graduate of Cascade High School where he finished his prep career as the OSAA 4A State Champion at 220 pounds in both his Junior and Senior campaign with a third place finish his sophomore year.

Louie will be joining former teammate Macoy Christman whom recently signed with the RiverHawks. In 2018 Louie and Macoy wrestled in the 220 pound OSAA 4A state finals with Sanchez prevailing in a tightly contested 5-1 match. "Louie represents a very versatile and athletic big guy for our program. He can fit in nicely at 197 pounds but could also wrestle heavyweight for us and use his athleticism to score a lot of points. He will make our upper weights deep and I expect the competition in the room to be some of the best matches I will get the opportunity to watch this next season", said coach Temple. "I'm excited to welcome another great athlete, student, and exceptional young man into the RiverHawk Wrestling Family."
