RiverHawks Finish 2nd at Clackamas Tournament

The Umpqua Community College Women's Volleyball Team returned from the Clackamas Community College tournament with a pair of wins, a 2nd place finish and a Tournament MVP.

The RiverHawks had a rough first day of the tournament, going 1-2 with a 2-0 loss to Columbia Basin and a 2-1 loss to Centralia College. In between those two contests, they soundly defeated South Puget South College 2-0, with scores of 25-21 and 25-15.

The second day started out with a big win versus Southern Region rival Clackamas Community College. The RiverHawks began slowly, dropping the first game 25-22, then rallied for three straight wins, 25-21, 25-20, and 25-17.

Winning their first game out of pool play put UCC into the Championship match with Centralia College. Despite some good rallies, the Hawks fell 3-0 with the scores being 25-19, 25-19 and 25-20.

For her efforts, Madison Becker was named Tournament MVP. She tallied 98 assists through the first four contests to go along with 13 service aces. For the tournament, Emma Lind led the RiverHawks in kills with 28 in the first 4 games.

The RiverHawks open up their home season with a game this Friday, Sept. 15th versus Clark College at 6:30p.m.
