Hawks Keep Rolling With 7 Game Win Streak

The UCC Women's Basketball team went 3-0 over the weekend at the Centralia College Blazer Classic Tournament. Win streak moves up to 7, and the Hawks are now 7-0 into the start of season.

On Friday, December 6th the Hawks went up against Centralia College and won 73-54. Three players went into double digits, as Grace Campbell led with 19 points, followed by Cielo Gonzalez with 16 and Hunter Boske with 15. The Hawks out-rebounded the Trailblazers 45-29, and Darian Mitchell led 11, followed by Mariam Yaro with 10.

On Saturday, December 7th the Hawks faced Whatcom CC and won 95-68. Cielo Gonzalez scored 30 points, which matched her career high from last year during a home game against Lane CC. Two other Hawks scored well during the game, as Grace Campbell scored 15 and Maya Van Hook scored 14. Campbell pulled down 12 rebounds to contribute to the team 39. Gonzalez also had 5 steals in the game.

On Sunday, December 8th the Hawks beat Blue Mountain College 92-58. Cielo Gonzalez had another high-scoring game with 25 points. Off the bench, three Hawks went into double digits: Jalisa Simons scored 11 points, and Maya Van Hook and Hannah McKinney both had 10 each. Mariam Yaro and Desiree Maddern both led the team in rebounds with 7 each. The team rebouds were split up fairly well leading to a team total of 47. The Hawks also forced the Timberwolves to 24 team turnovers.

The Hawks will look to keep their win streak alive this upcoming weekend as they are slated to play in Tacoma, WA for the NWAC Crossover. They will face Tacoma at 6pm Saturday, Peninsula at 2pm Sunday, and Wenatchee Valley at 12pm on Monday.
