Destiny Ware Signed

Umpqua Community College Women's Wrestling is excited to announce the signing of Destiny Ware San Marcos, California for the 2023-2024 season. 

Destiny comes to us from San Marcos high school where she competed in wrestling and Track and Field. She also has some experience with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to add to her list of accolades.

Destiny started wrestling as a Freshman in high school and has proven that she is motivated to work hard and be successful. Destiny says "What I love about wrestling is the competitiveness and the drive for self improvement. It is just something that I find myself drawn to."

Destiny's accomplishments in high school: 2x top 12 State finisher - 2x Master's Champion - 3x CIF Placer and a 1x champion - along with multiple individual tournament championships including Queen of the Realm and Queen of the lake invitational. She also earned the Distinguished female athlete award from the U.S. Marine Corps.

Director of Wrestling Anthony Weerheim had this to say about the signing of Destiny, " We are extremely excited to have Destiny be a part of our program here at UCC. Coach Barrett and I are looking forward to seeing Destiny progress as a wrestler and also excited about the impact she will have on our team."

The RiverHawks are coming off of a 2nd place finish in the NJCAA National Invitational and are looking to continue to add depth to the program for the 2023-2024 season.
