UCC Obstacle Course Racing Signs Two

Umpqua Community College Men’s Obstacle Course Racing has added two new team members to the squad for the fall of 2017. Ethan Harris of Englewood, Ohio and Boone Pearson of Roseburg, Oregon have signed with UCC to compete for the inaugural RiverHawk OCR team.

Harris attended Heritage Academy in Panama City, Florida where he participated in obstacle course training, boot camp activities and various academy physical challenges. He also played high school football. Pearson was homeschooled and spends times breaking horses and tending to livestock, as well as working on cars.

Coach Bowden had this to say about her newest signees, “Ethan and Boone are going to be tremendous assets to our program. They are very good athletes with high capacities for work and are going to represent our program in a very positive way.”

Umpqua’s OCR team is the first of its kind in the country and will begin competing in the fall of 2017. They will compete in races both in the fall and spring and sponsor teams for both men and women.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
