RiverHawk Obstacle Course Racing Adds Two-Sport Athlete

The Umpqua Community College Obstacle Course Racing program is excited to announce the signing of Hayden Luttrell, of Roseburg, Oregon. Luttrell is a 2016 graduate of Roseburg High School where he competed in both golf and basketball. For his efforts, he was named Roseburg High School Co-MVP for basketball, as well as achieving Honorable Mention All-Conference in the OSAA 6A Southwest Conference.

Head RiverHawk Obstacle Course Racing Coach Andrea Bowden had this to say about the addition of Luttrell, “Hayden is a tremendous athlete and will transition very well into obstacle course racing. We are excited to add a talented, local athlete to our new program.”

The RiverHawk Obstacle Course Racing team is debuting at the Roseburg, Oregon campus and will begin competition in the fall of 2017. The program is the first scholarship program in the nation.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
