Women’s Wrestling Adds Villanueva

The Umpqua Community College Women’s Wrestling program has announced the signing of Rebecca Villanueva of Menifee, California. Villanueva is a 2017 graduate of Paloma Valley High School, where she earned 22 victories during her senior season, including placing at 3 separate tournaments.

Head RiverHawk Women’s Wrestling Coach Asia DeWeese had this to say about the signing of Villanueva,” Rebecca is a natural leader who has a passion for wrestling, as well as a very good work ethic. We are excited about what she brings to our new program.”

The RiverHawk Women’s Wrestling team is making its debut at the Roseburg, Oregon campus and will begin competition in the fall of 2017.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
