RiverHawk Women’s Wrestling Adds California State Qualifier

The Umpqua Community College Women’s Wrestling program has announced the signing of Victoria White of Ripon High School in Ripon, California.

White was a State Tournament qualifier as a senior, going 20-8 and while getting 1st at Regionals and 2nd place at the Masters Tournament.

Head RiverHawk Women’s Wrestling Coach Asia DeWeese has this to say about the addition of White, “Victoria comes from a wrestling family and is very experienced, talented wrestler. We are excited to add someone with her athleticism to our new program. She has the potential to become a big part of our program.”

The RiverHawk Women’s Wrestling team is debuting at the Roseburg, Oregon campus and will begin competition in the fall of 2017.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
