RiverHawk Cross Country Adds Camas Valley Runner

Umpqua Community College Women’s Cross Country is excited to announce the addition of Bailey Payne, from Camas Valley, Oregon. Payne is 2016 graduate of Camas Valley High School, where she competed in track and field and volleyball for the Hornets.

Payne was named 3rd Team All-State as a senior volleyball player and helped her team to a 4th place finish in the OSAA State Championship. As a runner, her 4 x 400 meter relay team was the district champion and her 4 x 100 meter relay team was the 2nd place finisher in the OSAA State Championship.

Head RiverHawk Cross Country Coach CJ Kozlowski had this to say about the signing of Payne” Bailey is a good athlete and will be a very good addition to our program. She has a high fitness level and a good work capacity. We are looking forward to her contributions”

The RiverHawk Cross Country team is returning to the Roseburg, Oregon campus and will begin competition in the fall of 2017.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
