Cross Country Competes at Lewis & Clark Invite

The RiverHawk Cross Country men's and women's teams competed at the Lewis & Clark Invite in Estacada, OR at Milo McIver State Park. There were 33 other schools competing against the Hawks, with 261 women and 346 men (as well as several DNFs). About half of the NWAC teams were at the race, so it posed as a preview to the competiton the Hawks will see at the NWAC Championships.

The women ran a 6k in their race (the usual race distance for NCAA women). Freshman, Bailey Wallack, had a strong showing and finished in the top half of racers, with a time of 25:27. Wallack was 6th amongst the NWAC women's competitors. Behind her, was sophomore, Kristen Thomas, who finished in a time of 28:02. Three freshmen rounded out the Hawks team to give them a final team score. Emma-Kate Crouse went 31:41, Nicole Forristall went 32:12, and Dawn Cobb 36:13.

In the men's race, freshman, Paul Cervantes led the group of four, with a time of 29:56, not far off from his PR. Following him was sophomore, Attreyu Pinard, in a time of 31:19. Rounding out the last three was freshman, Connor Deveny in 32:35, sophomore, Noah Retherford in 33:04, and freshman, Emmanuel Hasty in 35:57. This was Hasty's debut race, as well Aiden Norris in his second race had to DNF due to a calf injury.

Due to her performance, Bailey Wallack earned NWAC XC Athlete of the Week.

The Hawks are finished with their regular season competitions, and will next be at the NWAC South Region Championships hosted by Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, OR. Go Hawks!
